I just got back from my client Terry’s house out in Lakeway and had to share this pic! I have some of the best clients around–not only is Terry creative and wonderful to work with (it’s like hanging out with a girlfriend while you get a lot of work done), she is thoughtful enough to provide us with a beautiful workplace that inspires and makes me thankful that I do what I do! This pic is a good example of ways you can decorate your garden for the fall–nothing has to match, in fact, it’s much more interesting when you mix textures and colors. We have a collection of pots–terra cotta, glazed, white sandstone–all planted with succulents, and a fabulous mixture of pumpkin and gourd varieties. I’m sometimes tempted to pick out the old standard jack-o-lantern pumpkins, which are great–but I love the mix of the Cinderella and white pumpkins along with the little mini ones and the gourd on top.
After Thanksgiving, throw it all in the compost pile and add smaller pots of rosemary topiary with little white lights, rosy pink poinsettias and a fresh wreath leaning up against a taller pot. Beautiful.
How do you decorate your garden for the holidays?

Great photo! I am carving out tops of small pumpkins to place candles for Thanksgiving table. Will put on a raw silk runner then have tiny individual vases (with something I haven’t figured out yet) at each place setting.
That sounds beautiful, Robin. Two years ago, I had a holiday party and realized that I’d let my hayrack planters go, so I cleaned them out, filled them up with moss and added a bunch of fresh fruit! It was really pretty, and my guests ate from the planters as well as from the table…
