Hi Brent! I never did finish the lightbulb terrarium because I accidentally broke my lightbulb (grrr) but I did find an awesome stand for it! I used a burned-down tealight holder--you know the little aluminum cups? You could use the clear ones, too, as long as you clean them out.

I'm trying to figure out a way to hang the lightbulb terrarium from the narrow end now--any ideas for that one?? Thanks so much for your comment!

I have made the lightbulb terrarium from a video off youtube! Great little project. Mine is slightly different in that I used small pea gravel, with water (from my aquarium). I have a little moss floating with a small stick and a small red shrimp. At first I had plugged the end with some silicone, but then removed as the entire thing clouded up and didn't allow me to see inside. I've had it up now for about 3 months and it's doing great, I change the water about every two weeks. I am wondering for the terrarium in the photo, if it has a plugged end and what is being used for the stand? I made my stand out of a coat hanger and it looks, ok, but kindof funky.

Those would be great gifts! I just bought some irish moss and I'm going to try it in a small lidded glass container I bought at Target. Let me know how yours turns out!

I've been thinking about creating my own terrarium, and if it's successful I plan on making some as Christmas gifts! I'll come back and let you know if all was successful :)

Jenny-- I love this terrarium! Great to look at and I love the reclaimed part of it, using a light bulb in that way. Gee, I'm wondering if there's a way to make them into Xmas tree ornaments?
Cheers!

The lightbulb terrarium idea is a great one - but you can really build a terrarium in nearly any glass container if it's cleaned out properly first. Check out my blog for more tips on making and maintaining terrariums!

Now if you could find some bioluminescent plants to put in there, you'd have the most awesome light source ever!
