Remember those tacky basketweave fences from the 70s and 80s? Well, I’m sure we all (or our parents) thought they were super-groovy at the time, but that time has definitely come and gone! But what about an upgraded version? I saw this fence the other day down the street from a client’s house, and I have to say, I love this! Granted, it wouldn’t work in every setting, but I can definitely picture it in a more contemporary tropical landscape with gorgeous palms and banana plants, or in a sleek modern landscape with cool grasses or bamboos. What do you think?

The old Smith and Hawkins in Berkeley ( off of Gilman) has/had a fence similar to this.
It is sculpted in the same way but the materials for the weave used a non rusting metal with thin metal upright inserts.
It was fantastic.
I think it is still there even though Smith and Hawkin closed.
It was installed about 15 years ago.
I really like it but it would great in metal/wood combo. Very cool though!
I like the *idea* of it. In its current state, it strikes me as one of those things that can be made to look good in a photo, but in real life (esp. after a year or two) looks like a cheap effort at privacy.
Different materials, different colors, and at least a *little* space between the weaves would help a lot.
I’m a fan! I tend to like crazier garden designs.
I wish I could’ve gotten a closer look to see the actual construction–if it was done cheaply, then I’d be disappointed. I, too, love the idea of taking an old idea and making it new….but only if it’s done well!
Love the woven fence, clean lines thanks for sharing…I am much more the Gypsy Wagon kind a girl and that I have the space for here at the ranch : )
nice picture.. i like this fences design
