Patio Transition: One Great Idea

Have you seen patios that abruptly end, while grass grows right up to the edge? While there’s nothing really wrong with it, there’s that nagging feeling sometimes that, surely, there must be a more artistic or creative solution to transition between the two areas. Well, here’s a quick idea that speaks to that very problem: At the edges of the poured concrete patio, the designer added large square concrete pavers in a checkerboard pattern, and then filled in the gaps with flagstone laid right into the grass. The effect is a gorgeous, texturally-interesting, and elegant solution to a problem that most people have. And you know what? It probably only cost a few hundred more dollars in materials, depending upon the amount of space you’re talking about. Simply gorgeous.
