I love me a good Friday! I get to share with you all sorts of goodies from the week that I didn’t know where else to put. Plus, I’m a mish-mash kind of girl, so there’s that. Today, I’d like to begin with a pic from my recent trip to Encinitas:
I love little combinations like this one from Chicweed–wee succulent clippings assembled into a “floral” arrangement! The colors and squishy textures are so yummy I just want to eat it up.
Now check this out–via my friend Julie— this is the best of “small space gardening!” One might scoff at the idea–who’s gonna water it? It’ll just die in a few days!–but I think that when we create beauty in the world around us, it makes it that much more difficult for people to damage and tear down our neighborhoods.
Just in time for spring, my friend Steve Asbell of The Rainforest Garden has been busy with his artwork–this guy is a real artist and I just love his prints, like this one:
You can buy acrylic prints, canvas prints, greeting cards and other items on his Fine Art America page–they are so vivid and cheerful, aren’t they? They would be great as gifts (Mother’s Day!).
Ah, I love urban art, don’t you? I was having lunch a couple of weeks ago at The Cove with my friends LaManda Minikel, Pamela Price and Holly & Sean Hirshberg, and we spotted this humble corrugated tin fence. Painted. In a super groovy way. The Cove is a weirdly cool little place in a slightly shady neighborhood close to downtown San Antonio–it’s a burger joint/beer garden/carwash/laundromat. No, I’m not kidding. Oh, also, they have a raised vegetable garden out back and feature “burgers with a conscience”–sustainable, organic and local ingredients. Cool.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this installment of Friday Mish-Mash Up–check in again next week for the best of garden miscellany!
