I must have been brain dead a couple of weeks ago! My balcony garden was featured on Apartment Therapy–and while it got splashed all over Facebook and Twitter, I didn’t post it here. DOH.
Apartment Therapy, that super cool lifestyle site for small space living, did a series on Before-and-Afters in the home and garden and included my balcony garden in the mix! I was so excited–it actually made my head spin how fast it happened. And I have to go on record here–to the commenters who made distinctions about my balcony not being “creole”–I agree! The term “creole” actually described Dawn Engel’s “Salvaged Creole Jazz Garden” from the 2010 San Francisco Flower and Garden Show; I’ve always described my garden as a New Orleans-themed jazz balcony.
Anyway–hope you enjoy the article and the tour of my balcony. I’ve just recently dismantled it and packed it up, as I’m moving to larger digs later this month–it was a sad process and I couldn’t do it myself (or I would’ve cried like a nutcase and never gotten it done) so I paid my son Luke and his friend Tom to do it for me. What a wuss. But onward and upward–thanks, little balcony garden, for all the memories! Many cocktails, girls’ nights in and quiet coffee time were enjoyed on that balcony. I think a little New Orleans funeral dirge is appropriate at this time–please remove your hats, bow your heads and offer up a prayer of thanks to the Great Jazz Gods in the Sky.
