Garden Designers Roundtable: Focus on the Details!

Ever heard the expression "God is in the details?" Well, I don't think think we're about debating God on this blog, but landscaping, absolutely! It's been my experience as a designer that some of the better projects that we've done — where the clients are sublimely happy, the garden just "click" and even our crew is taking pictures on their cell phones — are the ones that have some extra details or finishing touches that simply completes them. When I added river rock to the base of these planters, for example, everything seemed to just pull together:

Good design pays attention to details that take the landscape from "really nice" to "Wow! That's incredible." And here to help inspire us with details in our own gardens are my cohorts from the esteemed Garden Designers Roundtable! Hi Rose! I bought those at Custom Stone Supply on Terry-O Lane. They are a little pricey, but I typically use them in small amounts. I think you may be able to buy them by the bag at Barton Springs Nursery as well.
